Job Description:

Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruitment Division client, a large public accounting firm in Mississauga, is seeking a Consultant/ Senior Consultant, Forensics to join their team. The firm has clients within the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Expectations
  • Assist in insurance claim quantification, including income replacement benefits, personal injury tort claims, business interruption, inventory losses, employee dishonesty, fraud and conflict of interest investigations, contract disputes and economic loss quantification with a wide variety of clients, industries and disputes
  • Liaise with clients and their legal counsel, claims adjusters, policyholders and representatives
  • Engage in forensic accounting and legal activities and engagements such as calculating and analyzing economic loss claims, providing advice, preparing financials and tracing funds/accounts
  • Participate in the development of independent detailed expert financial reports
  • Carry out reports of highly detailed, meticulous engagements and contribute to deliverables
  • Assist in the execution of investigative plans on sensitive litigious matters and objectively analyze complex financial matters
  • Analyze financial documents such as finical statements, corporate and personal income tax returns, accounting books and records, banks statements, cheques, deposit books, sales, expenses, inventory costs, productions data, etc.
  • Examine documents, conduct indepth research, obtain financial and market statistics and lead Forensic engagements such as contract disputes, asset misappropriation and conflicts of interest
  • Support the design, development, formatting and proof reading of high quality professional reports, proposals and correspondence
  • Coordinate project logistics with clients and other stakeholders consistent with project plans
  • Stay up-to-date on existing and forthcoming legislation and legal decisions
  • Support the delivery of high quality client service to ensure client needs and are responded to in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines
  • Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Firm's services, businesses and industry
  • Network and take a leadership role in the local professional, business, and community while raising awareness of the Firm and looking for new business development opportunities
  • Promote Firm advisory services through the delivery of presentations, writing articles, facilitating workshops or participating in community activities
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Develop, coach, and train team members towards professional and personal development
  • Assist in conducting formal, written annual performance reviews
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
  • Attend internal Firm courses to further develop knowledge around performance improvement

Job Requirements:

Credentials
  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Completion of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or a plan to obtain the designation within two (2) years of joining the practice is considered an asset
  • Willingness to begin the Investigative and Forensic Accountant (IFA) program within three (3) years of joining the practice is considered an asset
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of work experience in a forensic accounting /loss quantification role
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance policy wording
  • Understanding of businesses operating in different industries and the impact of loss events
  • Ability to meet time budgets and timelines
  • Experience in personal injury tort claims and economic loss quantification
  • Ability to achieve Enhanced Reliability level Government of Canada security screening
  • Experience in business and practice development is considered an asset
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required
