Canada's job report surpasses expectations

The Employment Numbers were released today and it surpassed expectations.  Canada added 54,000 (0.03%) in December, the result of gains in full-time work.  This based on the report put out this morning by Statistics Canada.

Analysts in a Reuters poll had forecast no change in employment, while others expected a loss of 2,500 jobs.

Stats Can noted that in the fourth quarter of 2016, employment increased by 108,000 (+0.6%), the largest increase since the second quarter of 2010. This followed a gain of 62,000 (+0.3%) in the third quarter.
The largest increase was seen in women aged 25-54.
