How to Be a Better Performer at Work

Posted: 02.01.2017

There are many things you can do to enhance your performance at work...things that don't occur to many other people. Your chances of success at work can be determined mainly by your attitude and the way you spend your time both in and out of the workplace.

Today, let me share with you some tips on how you can improve your performance at work.

Set Your Priorities and Manage Them

One of the first things you should do if you want to be a better performance at work is to learn how to set and manage priorities. It's important that you separate important things from less important and urgent ones. You should also have a sense of urgency all the time so you could remind yourself always that you should get your job done fast. Remember that in today's extremely competitive workplace, dependability and speed are among the most valued traits of workers.

Maintain a Positive Mental Attitude

Developing a positive mental attitude is another way for improving your performance at work. Regardless of how many of you are working in a company, people can easily notice and remember a person who is consistent, optimistic, persistent and cheerful. By trying to cultivate an atmosphere of friendliness in the workplace, people will be willing to open their doors for you.

Seek Knowledge, Improve Your Skills

You can improve your work performance also by upgrading your skills continuously. And when you do, don't forget to let your employers know about what you're doing. You can also ask to be given additional courses to help you develop and be better. Bosses are impressed with individuals who are doing their best to enrich their knowledge and acquire more skills and abilities.

You can also ask your boss what other skills you need to have to qualify for a higher position in the company. Don't hesitate to express your interest in a higher position. As many career coaches say, "if you want a promotion, then ask for it".

Why Is Personality Important at Work?

It's safe to say that more than 80 percent of your success in the world will be the product of your personality, as well as your ability to communicate with others effectively. Your success can also be determined by how much people respect you and enjoy working with you.

If you want to improve how others perceive you, find ways to boost their confidence in themselves. Be generous in giving praises and appreciation. Doing this will make it easier for others to like you and want to work with you. You can learn all this in a life coaching program, where a coach will guide you to not only be successful in your career, but a good contributor in the workplace.
