This year, TorontoJobs.ca has partnered with the Heart & Stroke Foundation through the Big Bike event to raise money for research into the root causes of heart disease and stroke. Hundreds of research teams depend on the Heart and Stroke Foundation's support to pursue their work. TorontoJobs.ca has set a fundraising goal of $5000 and we need your help to reach it! Your support can help Canadians become better informed about preventative measures and as a result, lead healthier lives.

Finding the Right Candidate is a Matter of Knowing Where to Look.

Face it. Finding the right candidate for your company can be a daunting task. It’s a mission that thousands of employers like yourself, go through each and every year. Some people say it’s akin to looking for buried treasure – where you search and search to no avail. Others say it’s easy if you know where to look.

What’s that you say? You’ve looked and looked and looked, and still no success. Well, it’s time to perk yourself up and start searching in a new place. A place not many employers would think to look. It’s a place we call the professional industry association. And for some employers, it can mean the difference between success and failure.

Let’s say for example, you’re an engineering company and you are in need of professional engineers or engineering students for summer placements. And you’ve tried all the other general job posting sites and newspapers and still no success. Well, instead of sitting back, waiting and wondering what to do next, simply source and locate the professional association that deals with engineers and register with them. It’s that simple. By registering with a professional association, you immediately gain access to all the major players (read potential employees!) in the industry.

Outsourcing Your Human Resource Needs

Many small to medium sized organizations aren’t in a position to have a full time human resource role within their company. This could be due to the:

Size of the organization - as the business grows, even then some companies still can’t justify the cost of having a full time in-house HR function
Demand or awareness of the need for an HR role - many may not realize the HR compliance requirements that are associated with running a business
Cost dedicated to having someone fill such a role on a full time basis when perhaps the needs are only occasional - may feel it’s not worth the cost until the company grows to a certain size

A viable alternative that many organizations are turning to is outsourcing the strategic HR function to a Human Resource Consultant who can fulfill the role on a part time or “as-required” basis.
