Valuing Your Employees, Giving Value to Your Customers,
An Article By Willowtree

If you value your employees, and show them that they’re valued, you’re going to create a dedicated workforce that will make you rich.

Sound over-simplified? Well, think again. When we’re happy doing a task, we do the task better, with greater care, with more dedication. If we’re not happy doing something, then….. the opposite is usually true.

Same for our employees. We want them to be happy so they’ll produce for us and the best way to ensure that happens is to let our employees know how very much we value them. By valuing our employees, we foster their attitude of valuing our customers.

And giving value to our employees is pretty easy and fairly low cost. Look at these following two examples.

Here’s an excerpt from www.disneyinstitute.com:

Tips for Writing the BEST Job Descriptions
An Article by TorontoJobs.ca

Writing a job description is the most important part of the recruitment process. The job description will determine the level of applicants applying to a posting whether it is online or in print. The job description should create a “snapshot” of the overall position and clearly communicate the responsibilities and tasks the job entails.
Below is a quick list of categories that make up a well – written job description:

  • Title of the position
  • To whom the candidate will report to
  • Brief description of your company
  • Profile of the “perfect” candidate
  • List of primary responsibilities
  • Qualifications for the position (necessary and “nice to have”)
  • Terms of employment (Full Time, Part Time, Temporary, etc.)
  • Job Location
  • Corporate Logo/Branding & Website Address
  • Contact information and detailed instructions of “How to Apply”

A few things to keep in mind when writing your job description:

  1. The ad should be clear and easy to read
  2. Clarity - Use short sentences and bullet points
  3. Using words such as “you” and “your” will help candidates visualize themselves in the role
  4. Try to avoid using caps within your posting
  5. Don’t use internal jargon
  6. If it’s required or an asset, say so
  7. Mention hours/overtime required
  8. Mention any travel that is required
  9. Try to keep the information to a minimum (avoid more than 2 pages)
  10. Avoid gender based language
TorontoJobs.ca allows companies to post their positions online, search a resume database to find candidates, publishes a monthly Toronto Jobs newspaper and provides full recruitment services (temporary and permanent) for a fee.
