Located in Toronto, CanStage is Canada's largest not-for-profit contemporary theatre company. We are committed to: the creation and production of the best in contemporary Canadian and international theatre, attracting the best artists and plays in Canada, and promoting its Canadian productions in international markets. The CanStage Play Development Program initiates and supports new work through commissions, workshops, readings, treatments, one-on-one dramaturgy and the Play Creation Group. Delivering artistic excellence to our large and loyal audience at home in Toronto, as well as major international markets.

In Toronto, we currently produce a subscription-based season from October through May in our 875-seat Bluma Appel Theatre in The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, the 250-seat Downstairs Theatre and the 166-seat Upstairs Theatre both at 26 Berkeley Street; and outdoor Shakespeare in our 1,100-seat outdoor amphitheatre in Toronto’s High Park from Canada Day to Labour Day every summer.
