Reconnect Community Health Services is a Toronto based organization that provides mental health, addictions and community support services to individuals 16 years of age and older. 

Reconnect Community Health Services offers a wide range of programs, treatment, support and help to individuals 16 years of age and older. Our services include Adult Day Services, Case Management, Home Help and Personal Care, Meals on Wheels, Therapeutic Falls Prevention, Mental Health Multidisciplinary Teams, Addictions Case Management, Crisis Outreach and Crisis Beds.  

Reconnect is seeking a self-motivated and resourceful individual with demonstrated leadership abilities and experience, to design and deliver fund development and communications strategies to resource our growing organization now and into the future.

The Manager of Communications, Fund Development and Volunteer Relations is a confident and experienced leader with an ability to positively influence others for the collective good. Responsibilities:

Fund Development:      

  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, develops and delivers an annual plan for the organization’s special events;
  • Takes individual responsibility for cultivating, soliciting, securing, and increasing annual donations at the major gift level;
  • Develops and implements systems and processes associated with fundraising, marketing, and communications, including donor communications, grant management reporting, and data tracking;
  • Provides exceptional support to a wide variety of third-party events;
  • Coordinates recurring special events and works towards continuous improvement; creatively considers new fundraising events;
  • Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to request and ensure volunteer support for events;
  • provides ongoing support and appreciation to volunteers;
  • Develops and monitors sponsorship plans and agreements;
  • Lead the execution of a fundraising strategy (including an annual fundraising plan and budget) for Reconnect Community Health Services to meet annual and long-term funding requirements and to assure adequate revenue expansion to meet growing needs;
  • Manage a portfolio of major gifts prospects, and solicit major gift prospects, working with Board, senior volunteers and senior staff to meet agreed upon goals. Provide training, fundraising counsel and strategic advice to the above, when and as necessary;
  • Ensure that regular reports are produced to monitor the effectiveness of fundraising and related volunteer and marketing activities.

Communications/Marketing:

  • Creative support and development in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Management Team for marketing materials, website, and newsletter;
  • Provides support to maintaining donor records, promotional materials, and press releases;
  • Writes content and provides quality control on communications for social media accounts, letters, articles, newsletters, and press releases;
  • Identify and manage media relations and public speaking opportunities;
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as necessary.

 Volunteer Management:

  • Effectively and efficiently develop, maintain and grow the volunteer programs and assist with the giving programs and initiatives;
  • Direct and manage the administrative, operational and logistical support systems related to the assessment, development, training and recruitment of Volunteers, including volunteer development initiatives and volunteer recognition systems;
  • Assist in building strong fundraising and donation programs;
  • Develop support programs for volunteers, including programs targeted at volunteer recruitment, screening and retention;
  • Support and coordinate Volunteer data management and report generation initiatives;
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns designed to increase volunteer recruitment and retention;
  • Assist in fostering Volunteer/Member relations;
  • Assist with the Annual General Meeting, Volunteer Recognition Event and other volunteer initiatives as may be required;
  • Oversee volunteer satisfaction within programs. Manage volunteer conflicts (and escalate as required) and volunteer skill development;
  • Plan and execute all public relations and marketing of related to volunteer opportunities;
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of volunteer recognition events and the development of a volunteer Honors & Awards Program;
  • Develop relationships with community partners;
  • Provide support to Senior Volunteers (Board/ Committee Chairs) when requested;
  • Participate in public and corporate displays and public speaking opportunities to educate and inform about LIFE Institute and the 3 pillars: Learn, Socialize and Contribute;
  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in related discipline (Volunteer Management, Office Administration, Marketing, Public Relations);
  • Demonstrated success in major gift solicitation, donor relationships and proposal writing;
  • Superior writing, presentation, public relations and relationship-building skills;
  • Experience with a fundraising database, particularly Raiser’s Edge;
  • Resourceful, creative and ability to think ‘outside of the box’;
  • Results oriented with excellent follow through on commitments;
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years’ experience in volunteer recruitment and management;
  • Demonstrated marketing and/or public relations experience;
  • Current information management training and experience, including excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications and social media;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; both oral and written;
  • Time management skills with the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously;
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate adaptability;
  • Able to adapt to a flexible work schedule when required;

  • Is eager to use their creativity and digital know-how to build and execute social media strategies to promote programs and initiatives of Reconnect;

  • Use appropriate platform analytics tools to highlight social brand performance across platforms;
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, stewardship, and/or marketing, preferably but not necessary in a not-for-profit setting;
  • Exceptional communications skills, including public speaking;
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel), and advanced knowledge and use of databases as part of overall fundraising strategy;
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Hours of Work:

37.50 Hours/ flexible evening and/or weekend hours as required
