Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent 

Location: Mississauga

Job Overview:
Our client, a public accounting firm located in Mississauga, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team! This position is responsible for the planning, execution and completion of client engagements including audit, review, compilation, preparation of corporate tax return, financial statements and note disclosure, as well as supervision of junior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Provide effective leadership, mentorship and skills development opportunities that support the values of the organization
  • Plan, execute and finalize audit and review engagements, ensuring compliance with Canadian Auditing and Review standards as applicable 
  • Draft financial statements and note disclosure in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Review work performed by junior and intermediate team members for larger assurance engagements
  • Prepare compilation engagements and related corporate tax returns
  • Collaborate with tax department on client tax planning and incorporate into the year end accounting
  • Communicate directly with clients to arrange year end inventory count, interim fieldwork, year end fieldwork
  • Contact other firms/investment broker/lawyer on behalf of the client to obtain information required to prepare the year end
  • Prepare advanced personal tax returns, including individuals with offshore investments and trust funds
  • Respond to Canada Revenue Agency audits or requests for information
  • Develop appropriate knowledge, skills and competence consistent with CPA professional development requirements

Job Requirements:

  • CPA designation
  • 3+ years of experience in assurance, accounting and tax planning 
  • Experience with owner-managed private corporations
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and well organized
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and supporting effective team planning
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflict, possess interpersonal and problem-solving, time management and prioritizing skills
