Job Description:

A client, a wholesale organization, located in Vaughan is on a search for a Senior Accountant.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Perform month-end close including the preparation of month-end journal entries and management financial reporting
  • Perform monthly balance sheet and  income statement variance analysis
  • Assist in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management 
  • Perform forecast/ budget variance analysis
  • Prepare financial analysis, key trends analysis and business case analysis
  • Ensure costs are monitored and prepare necessary reports for management to make informed financial decisions
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including fixed assets, prepaids, accrued liabilities, etc.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation, Canadian/ US bank accounts
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Participate and support operations through month end inventory counts including purchase reconciliation
  • Provide support to the business through the preparation of ad-hock analysis and reporting as requested
  • Prepare, file, and calculate monthly HST & QST sales tax returns and other government remittances
  • Assist with year-end audit including the preparation of working papers, reconciliations and journal entries
  • Prepares audit materials, provides supporting documents during year-end audit

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in relevant accounting positions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent combined education and work related experience
  • Enrollment in the CPA program, on path to completion
  • Previous experience with full cycle accounting, month end, reconciling bank accounts, account payable and general ledger accounts
  • Quick learning capacity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities.
  • Team player who works effectively with limited supervision and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Solid computer skills and proficiency in accounting software skills and Microsoft Excel, AS 400 is a definite asset
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
