Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical assistance and support to the Rainy River First Nations Human Resources Department. This position will report to Human Resources Manager.
This is a Temporary full-time position for a period of 1 year with the possibilities of extension.
The successful candidate will be responsible to:
  • Assist and provide clerical and administrative support in the delivery of Human Resources (HR) services.
  • Prepare correspondence including reports, briefing notes, memorandums, letters, job descriptions, presentations.
  • Update and maintain attendance reports.
  • Assist in document control for Band Administration.
  • Maintain and update personnel filing systems.
  • Process, verify and register HR documentation through HRIS.
  • Ensure proper completion of various HR related forms.
  • Scanning paperwork into an electronic filing system.
  • Adding new material to electronic file records and creating new folders as necessary.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of records.
  • Assist in payroll including compiling, inputting and verifying information, producing records and reports, as well as liaisoning with Finance.
Education and Experience:
  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Combination of Education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in office administration, Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain high attention to details and strict confidentiality.
  • Must possess strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of labour legislations-Canada Labour Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code.
  • Computer skills including use of software, word processing, spread sheets, presentations, internet and email.

  • Must be in compliance with Rainy River First Nations Drug Testing Policy.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
