Job Description:

TorontoJobs.ca is working with a leading equipment sales company in Hamilton, Ontario in their search for a Customs Administrator.

The successful candidate must be able to work in the office daily.
 
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Post customs broker invoices
  • Review and match invoices to vendor invoices to ensure customs valuation is correct, ensure that HS codes are correct and that the customs clearance documents are aligned with the commercial invoice
  • Streamline the process nationally on how parts are received in the system to ensure we match customs
  • Contact the vendor/supplier to understand the reason for discount
  • Act as the liaison between operations and customs questions/issues
  • Ensure compliance reporting contact/administrator (all type engine reporting, single window initiative streamlining, ensuring goods imported (whole goods/parts) are properly certified, etc.)
  • If product is non-compliant/certified ensuring we follow proper protocol when it comes to reporting and understanding our obligation
  • Prepare and assist with the customs documents for parts returns or exports
  • Staying on top of customs changes/requirements
  • Regulatory reporting (this would be outside of customs) such as EHC, tires, batteries – streamlining this process would be ideal (understanding what parts have an EHC that we have to report on and how we can track that in EBS/charge out)
  • Customs compliance with express carries (UPS or FedEx)
  • Some travel to branches in Ontario and Canada may be involved

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (Customs Coordinator, Import / Export Clerk, Customs Compliance)
  • Previous experience dealing with CBSA (Canada Border Security Agency) is a strong asset
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation is a strong asset
  • Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot table, charts, data extraction and presentation)
