Company Description:

Our client is one of the largest museums in North America and they are seeking an Intermediate Developer (VB / VB.Net) to join their team on a permanent, full time basis. The successful candidate will be rewarded with the opportunity for advancement in a very interesting environment.



Working under the direction of the Manager, IT Development, the goal of this position is to provide ongoing technical support and application development to the museums database and website. You will monitor the performance and turning of databases and applications, establishing maintenance procedures, maintain security and integrity systems for database applications, assist with the conversion of data into new systems (VB and ASP to .NET), work with staff and departments to develop and maintain data standards.



Requirements:

• University degree in computer science (four year program) OR an acceptable equivalent in education and experience

• Professional expertise in relational database design using Microsoft Access, and client/server architectures;

• Expertise with Visual Basic for Applications and the .NET Framework

• Experience building applications with MySQL

• Working knowledge of Novell and Windows networking and experience with the deployment of multi-user database systems in a local area network environment

• Command of SQL (Structured Query Language)

• Experience with client-server connectivity via ODBC (Open Database Connectivity)

• Expertise in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and XML

• Proficiency in PHP
