Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate internal/customer quality issues to supporting departments (such as maintenance, tool shop, engineering, prototype/fixture shop, welding, paint).
  • Perform daily walk through of plant for non-conformances.  Oversee Quality Technicians (EOL Weld, In process weld and China Inspection) for in-process scrap/hold issues, etc.
  • Lead containment, rework control, and quality alerts for internal/external quality issues.
  • Review Product on Hold in quarantine hold area & elsewhere in the plant.  Disposition                product as required.
  • Perform PPAP(AIAG) for Customers and provide back-up approval of Supplier PPAP Submissions.
  • Manage Fixture/Gauge Calibration System ensuring new Check Fixtures and other Measurement Gauges are calibrated/measured and entered into Active Exhausts Gauge Management System.
  • Oversee daily weld production release to paint line inspected by End of Line Quality Inspector Inspection( EOL).
  • Act as Quality Lead for Run@Rate First Off Approval and subsequent PPAP sample CMM Measurements and perform Run@Rate inspection/release for new Product Launches.
  • Check applicable Customer websites for corrective & other required actions and hold Corrective Action Meeting as needed.
  • Implement 5S, Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Track weekly report results throughout plant and update Production on jobs that are in new launch containment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience as Quality Engineer.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001:2008 and Internal Audit
  • Ability to perform PPAP(AIAG) for Customers
  • Understanding of ASQ CQE  and familiarity of SPC application
  • Ability to read Weld blue prints
  • Proficient with GD&T measurement systems
  • Quality tools and Quality management tools application
  • Experience in Control Plan, PFMEA, Process Flow and  CMM  data interpretation knowledge
  • Tube or Press Shop experience and MIG, Resistance and  Spot weld symbol, process and weld defect identification knowledge and experience as asset
  • Solid communication skills
