Our client, a large tech manufacturing company located in Milton, is looking to add a Division Accounting Manager to their team! This is an exciting opportunity for experienced accounting professionals who are looking to take their career to the next level!
JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of and reports to the Division Controller. In accordance with established policies, systems, defined controls, supervise, coordinate and be accountable for the accounting functions and activities assigned. E.g. accounts payable, costing, general accounting. Through delegation of assignments, and instruction, accomplish accounting objectives compatible with established schedules, controls, regulations and procedural formats. Examine and interpret unusual data, review reports and summaries, check controls, reconcile and adjust errors that occur. Prepare accounting data for special reports and operating statements for the Division Controller. Manage staff, maintain good morale and discipline, which includes employee performance appraisal and salary review.
FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:All functions and duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following:
- Management of accounts payable, cost, divisional accounting activities.
- Supervision of divisional accounting staff (accounts payable, cost) including:
- effective delegation
- performance appraisals
- training (backup duties to manager - cost)
- Maintenance of standard costs for manufactured product.
- Development of manufacturing overhead budgets.
- Development of standard costs relating to labour, material, overhead.
- Preparation and reconciliation of annual standard revaluation.
- Preparation and reconciliation of annual physical inventory.
- Review existing accounting methods and systems, and design or request program changes to increase and improve efficiency.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed relating to fixed asset additions, disposals.
- Fixed asset physical inventory - every 3 years.
- Review and approval of journal entries.
- Coordination of journal entry input to general ledger to meet required deadlines.
- Analysis of month-end financial data
- Monthly segmented operating statement.
- Monthly, quarterly and year end Group and Corporate reporting.
- Preparation and submission of statistical reports, surveys.
- Various projects as required.
- Coordinate all internal audits
- Review existing accounting methods and systems, and design or request program changes to increase and improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain internal controls.
- Monitor Division’s Sales and Use taxes and property taxes.
- Responsible for ensuring Divisional record retention policy is met.
