Job Description:

Our client located in Mississauga is currently looking to add an Accountant to their team!

The Accountant's responsibilities involve supporting and managing the company’s complete financial processes. This includes making journal entries, closing and opening the books at the beginning and end of accounting periods and issuing financial statements to the Director of Operations and Board of Directors if required . The individual is also expected to reconcile expenditures and revenues and make any adjustments based on depreciation or amortization . This individual is also responsible for accounts payable and receivable, bill payments and payroll when required.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Weekly posting of revenue
  • Weekly preparation, coding, and posting of vendor invoices which includes allocating HST rebate
  • Weekly payment and posting of utilities
  • Bi-monthly payment of vendors
  • Monthly bank, revenue, receivables, and deferred revenue reconciliations
  • Monthly posting of payroll transactions and calendar year end reconciliation to payroll records
  • Monthly preparation of accounting schedules for all general ledger accounts and maintaining accuracy of the general ledger
  • Monthly preparation of financial statements
  • Assist in bi-weekly payment of payroll via payroll system as required
  • Assistance in reconciliations of regional funding as required
  • Year-end preparation of all financial statements and accounts schedules for corporate year-end audit by chartered accountants for the Regions
  • Filing of HST rebate twice a year
  • Conduct internal audits as requested

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in accounting or related field is required
  • Ability to work independently
  • 5+ years of experience in a full-cycle bookkeeping role
  • Advanced accounting and bookkeeping software experience
  • Proficient in MSOffice and PowerPoint software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excel skills a must, with a basic knowledge of Word
  • Experience with financial statements
  • Aptitude for business
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be comfortable meeting tight deadlines at year end
