Job Description:

The Field Manager is responsible for the success of the company's Assembly and Field Teams. The Field Manager oversees the Project Management of jobs from lead to installation. The Field Manager has competency in all measurement, quoting, sales and installation tasks for all projects, with particular attention on projects, and delivers training and ongoing coaching to the team. The Field Manager oversees the day-to-day maintenance of our vehicle fleet, power tools and safety gear in the field and warehouse.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Leadership
• Oversee the life cycle of projects, from inception to delivery, including pricing, ordering, site readiness reporting, work scheduling, installation, customer acceptance, invoicing and payment collection.
• Ensure compliant installation completion and reporting notes are thorough and included in the Vonigo record. Ensure all appointments are Completed in Vonigo to enable lead time tracking and reporting.
• Liaise with Inside Sales Manager to oversee the follow up of unsold quotes using both the field and Inside Sales teams.
• Develop and maintain a set of KPIs in conjunction with the General Manager and Inside Sales Manager.
• Review and revise SOPs for large opening projects and ensure Sales Representatives’ quotes and supporting project documents are correctly executed and documented.
• Oversee and develop field team members by enhancing their knowledge in measurement, quoting, site inspection and installation techniques, both in the field and in the classroom/office.

Health and Safety Leadership
• Lead the JHSC as Certified Management Representative. Enhance and maintain our Health and Safety program in compliance with Ministry and industry standard.
• Oversee site inspections and use of WAH equipment.
• Ensure compliance with the safe use of power tools, loading and unloading of trucks, and use of the vehicle fleet.
• Ensure all departments have safety training included in their training checklists, with particular attention to field and warehouse roles, where issues are most likely to be present.
• Report any issues, concerns or irregularities you notice to ownership in a timely manner
• Cross-train in other areas of the company as required for full understanding of your role
• Perform other tasks required by management on a periodic
• Ensure all field team members are properly equipped with safe and effective tools, equipment and spare parts on their vehicles to cover any emergency service issues.

Industry Awareness and Product Knowledge
• Maintain excellent knowledge of products offered to clients and Dealers by Ontario Screen Systems Inc. Build and maintain excellent relationships with Dealers and other industry stakeholders.
• Develop an excellent understanding of the state of the retractable screen industry in Ontario, Canada and North America.
• Develop an excellent relationship with Phantom Manufacturing Int’l product development and technical teams. Represent the company in PMI beta testing and limited product rollouts.
• Provide leadership and technical support at trade shows and home shows.
• Keep up to date on trends in the Door and Window Industries, and of the Retractable Screen market.

Training and Development
• Provide and oversee the training of the field team members, both inside the training area of the warehouse and in the field.
• Provide on-boarding training to new Dealers, and act as a technical product expert to all Deealers. Make periodic visits to Dealer locations or jobsites for technical and sales support.
• Perform spot checks in the field, both to assess the quality and accuracy of field staff work, as well as to to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Participate in the preparation and delivery of performance evaluations for Installers.
• Demonstrate leadership and expertise in all areas of installation for all products.

Job Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of door and window industry terminology, and can confidently discuss product applications with clients and field staff
  • Very proficient in handling power tools: cordless drill, mitre/chop saw, drill press, table saw, grinder
  • Full 'G' Driver's license
  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as required
  • Supervisory experience in a construction related field
  • Fleet supervision experience
  • Excellent math skills - able to measure accurately in the imperial system, including adding and subtracting to the 16th of an inch
  • Excellent abilities in speaking, writing and reading English
  • Excellent accuracy in documenting work requirements with builders and dealers
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Experience training and developing staff
  • Experienced in team performance management
